Garrett High School senior Preston Newman is working part of the day as an intern with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 166 welding apprenticeship program. This is giving students a big opportunity to find out first hand if this is a career for them.
This year we are sponsoring North Side High School athletics and we will have a table with career information at the home football games. The next game will be Friday, August 20 at 7pm. We will be set up right across from our banner on the concourse entrance.
I was able to visit two summer camps at area career programs. Thank you Chad Sutton of the Garrett High School Career Development Program and Jim Walmsley and Chris Weber of the Impact Institute in Kendallville. Both are such great opportunities for students to check out a career in construction!
